Houseboats on Lake Kariba
This is how the locals enjoy spending their holidays in Zimbabwe, relaxing on a houseboat in the middle of Lake Kariba. Fishing when it suits them and just enjoying the views of this inland sea. The houseboat trips which we are offering are houseboats which are moored in Binga, which is a small town on the Lakeshore. They are fully equipped with air conditioning in the rooms, kitchen, bar, lounge, upper decks, hot showers and tender boats for fishing or just sunset cruises in smaller bays around your houseboat. The boats are of different sizes but they are anything from 10 people to 25 people. Please get in touch with us to get all the relevant information for these vessels.

Where the houseboats will take you
These traditional houseboats generally go as far as the Ruzi River Mouth from Binga, which is about a 6 Day trip. You will go across the Binga basin, through the Chete Gorge, up to the start of the Sengwa Basin and up to Ruzi and False Ruzi. Others will only go as far as the Chete gorge, or perhaps down the Lake towards Milibizi.

Best Time To Travel
If you are going to book a houseboat on the Lake, make sure to book at least 4 months prior to your desired departure as they tend to get very busy during school holidays and public holidays, such as Easter, Christmas, and other national Holidays. Weather wise the Lake is pleasant most of the year, with our main rainstorms approaching from October through till February, then it starts to cool down up until September when it gets a bit windy but at least not as hot as the summer months. Malaria is a real danger and you should consult your practitioner before travelling to Zimbabwe.
